A fresh glance at an old campus

The 28th of August The Green Office organised a walk around Blindern Campus with UiO's head of parks Ane Guldahl. Attendees learned a lot about Campus and the important work Landscape Services and the Estate Department at UiO do.

On a walk around Campus with Ane Guldahl the Green Office and a group of interested students learned more about the important and diligent work the Estate Department and Landscape Services do to keep Campus functional and aesthetically pleasing. We got to see various well-known and less-known lunch spots around campus, areas with wilder nature, the beautiful herb garden outside Kristine Bonnevies hus, and even some mulberry trees!

On our walk we also learned about the development of the University campus from the early 1900 hundreds until today. Amongst other things we learned about what kind of measuers the gardeners have taken to increase biodiversity, like letting the grass grow without mowing, and letting some areas remain untouched. After this walk we are left with great respect for the work the Estate Department and Landscape Services do, and feel lucky to have such a beautiful campus!

We look forward to further collaboration with UiO's gardeners and would love to organise another tour of the campus in the spring, when the greenery is waking back up from its winter sleep.
