The staff training week took advantage of the longest days and shortest nights of the year, so that participants from 20 countries in Europe could get the most out of their stay. We received more than 110 applications from many engaged colleagues with exiting initiatives. Sixty participants were selected and met for a week of experience sharing and lively discussions.
Who was the Academic Refuge staff training for?
This staff training course was aimed at academic and administrative staff of all levels, especially those involved in welcoming refugees and threatened academics on campus. We welcomed Vice-Rectors for Internationalisation, IROs, staff working on inclusion and widening participation, those with an interest in instruments for promoting higher education values and those involved in negotiating or implementing inter-university partnerships. Successful candidates for the training all had a strong interest and capacity to replicate the training at their home institutions and/or at other institutions. Refugee academics or professionals currently in teaching or administrative positions were strongly encouraged to apply.

Academic Refuge: The Role of Universities in Turbulent Times
- The multiplier event aimed to raise the profile of these issues with a wider group of interested organizations and institutions

- Featured speakers included university leaders, the Norwegian Minister for Education, the Principal Adviser for Migration at the European Commission and more
