In 2012, eight Norwegian universities joined forces with the University of California, Berkeley to establish the Peder Sather Center for Advanced Study, to increase research collaboration between Berkeley and the Norwegian institutions.
Since 2012, Norwegian universities have invested NOK 50.3 million in this collaboration and have renewed the agreement period with UC Berkeley through 2026.
There is a broad academic participation in the program. UiO's share of NOK 15.7 million so far has provided seed funding for 85 projects, involving seven of our eight faculties, both university museums and the University of Oslo Library. The seed funding has made the cooperation grow. Considerable resources have subsequently been drawn from both the Research Council of Norway and the EU.
The celebration on 26 October will consist of a series of presentations from the projects that have received funding from the center over the years.
