The Norwegian Chamber Orchestra takes Fanny Mendelssohn as composer and let her shine - side by side with her brother.
Between the works of the Mendelssohn siblings, the audience is taken into a whole different musical experience. Where Fanny and Felix are extroverted in their expressions, Bach, Hindemith and Gubaidulina are meditative.
Hindemiths Trauermusik is surprisingly romantic for him to be, but that is probably due to the occasion where he was asked to write a piece in the memory of king George V. Here the nights musical leader takes her viola - that she (literally) handles to the fingertips - and is the soloist with the orchestra.
