Career day for early career researchers 2025

The Faculty of Social Sciences aims to support early career researchers in their next step through its annual career day.

The career day is intended for researchers at postdoctoral level at the Faculty of Social Sciences, but is also open for other staff early in their academic career. It is an opportunity for networking between early career researchers across the Faculty's different departments and centres.

Who wants to be a millionaire? Grant writing for newbs

Professor Astrid Marie Jorde Sands?r - Department of Special Needs Education

How do get your idea down on paper? How can you convince your reader? And what does impact really mean?

This session will provide you with hands-on tips for writing a grant proposal. Astrid will guide you through her process from an idea to a successful application to the highly competitive “Researcher Project for Young Talents” from the Research Council of Norway. This will be relevant for anyone who is writing or planning a research proposal to the Norwegian or European Research Council (ERC), or similar grants.

Communicating your research beyond academia

Postdoctoral Fellow St?le Wig - Department of Social Anthropology

St?le will share his experiences with communicating research beyond academia:
What do you gain from spending time on communication, and what considerations and responsibilities come with being a researcher in a public discourse? St?le has experience with teaching and has contributed to the establishment of the interdisciplinary course Outreach and Science Journalism at the The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.

Lise and Marit will inform about grant writing support and how the communications unit can be of assistance to researchers who wish to communicate their research, and what support systems the University of Oslo provides.
