At NHM, we have various methods for exchanging information from management to employees, from employees to management, and among employees. It is expected that all employees are familiar with these routines.
The museum currently has the following routines, arenas, and platforms for internal communication aimed at employees:
- UiO's intranet for employees
- NHM's intranet for employees
- Common email lists (nhm-alle/nhm-ansatte) for work-related information relevant to everyone at the museum. These lists are moderated, and everything sent out should always be in both Norwegian and English. More information about the lists can be found below**
- A newsletter sent out monthly to all employees regarding new hires and internal matters at the museum. Section leaders and the director share the leadership column.
- All-staff meetings approximately 4-5 times a year where directors present various topics. Other themes/invited guests may also be featured.
- Teams NHM-alle is used as a team for collaborative projects/working groups across the museum. This platform is also used for more informal communication between museum employees.
In addition to this, there are other important sources of information:
- Section meetings, group meetings, and department meetings
- Various Teams channels and groups
- Minutes from Information, Consultation, and Negotiation meetings (IDF meetings) between the employer and employee organizations (see protocol for board meetings)
- Protocols from board meetings
**More information about email lists: NHM has several email lists that we use to reach each other internally. These typically include email lists for departments, sections, and groups and can be used by everyone at the museum. An overview of all email lists at NHM can be found in UiO's email list tool, Sympa.
Regarding the use of nhm-ansatte and nhm-alle: There are two email lists that reach almost everyone at the museum:
- nhm-ansatte@nhm.uio.no (employees)
- nhm-alle@nhm.uio.no (including students, guests, retirees, and emeriti)
**These email lists have specific purposes and are assigned specific roles within the museum, in accordance with the email dispatch guidelines at UiO. The information sent out to these lists should be work-related, relevant to all recipients, and not perceived as spam or of a private nature. It is also important to consider whether the information intended for distribution via email can be sent to more targeted groups than all employees and others affiliated with the museum. If you have any questions regarding dissemination, please contact your immediate supervisor at NHM. Emails sent to nhm-ansatte and nhm-alle should be in both Norwegian and English.
