Reuse of furniture

Reusable furniture for offices, meeting rooms and common areas are stored together in one place. The furniture is only for use within UiO.

UiO undergoes a significant amount of rearrangement of offices and common areas. Many discard old furniture and purchase new, but fortunately, an increasing number of people wish to furnish with used furniture.

To make sure that the furniture are used again, The Estate Department has established a storage facility for reusable furniture in the basement of Kristian Ottosens hus (accessible from Lucy Smiths hus).

Report a need for furniture

Report your need for used furniture and schedule an inspection through Estate Services. Select Reuse and repair of furniture in the drop-down menu, followed by Looking for reused furniture. Remember to clear it with your unit's Head of Office or Estate Coordinator (Norwegian page).

For use within UiO only

Please note that all furniture at the storage are owned by UiO and can only be used within UiO. We must adhere to Instruks for utrangering, kassasjon og avhending av materiell og fast eiendom som tilh?rer staten (lovdata.no) (in Norwegian), which means that we cannot give or sell furniture to employees or students.

What can I find?

The furniture reuse storage is a popular service, and new furniture is regularly delivered. Many items are only in stock for a few days before being taken out again. Below are some examples of what you can find there.

The images in the carousel below are examples of chairs available at the furniture reuse storage.

Getting rid of furniture?

The furniture reuse storage accepts furniture from across UiO. You can also send an email to the office manager network to see if others want the furniture you no longer have need for. Please report through Estate Services (choose Reuse and repair of furniture in the drop-down menu) if you need help with transportation.
