Who is a guest researcher?
Guest researchers are defined as persons who have been invited by the Department's own staff, from an academic purpose, to stay at the Department for a limited period. Guest researchers are not employed or paid any salary by UiO.
Foreign guest researchers
- Visits of foreign researchers are a step in the internationalization at the University of Oslo. The University of Oslo, and the hosting Department, will facilitate their stay and do their best to make the stay be successful.
- Ph.D. candidates must document that they have enough assets to stay.
Norwegian guest researchers
- The reception of Norwegian guest researchers is contingent upon a recommendation from the guest researchers' institution or an agreement between the institution and the Department of Biosciences (agreed upon prior to arrival).
- The agreement shall define the purpose, duration, and need for infrastructure and cost recovery.
Guest researchers staying for more than a month
To ensure a common policy, the Department of Biosciences has adopted the following guidelines for the reception of guest researchers for more than one month's duration:
- An application for the reception of guest researchers shall be sent via the Head of Administration.
- The application shall describe the purpose of stay and duration.
- The application must describe the need for infrastructure (other than office work).
- Publication of papers - always use the Department address.
- For the time being the group leader is responsible for covering any charges upon receipt of the guest researchers.
