Photography for personal presentations

The faculty encourages all employees of the SV-faculty to have a photo on their personal profile. New employees should schedule a photography session as soon as possible.

How to schedule a photo session:

  • Photography takes place on Mondays between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM on the third floor of Eilert Sundts hus. Please note that all photo appointments must be scheduled in advance.
  • New employees should reach out to sv-ansattfoto@sv.uio.no to arrange for their professional photo session.
  • The faculty's communications department will upload the photos to each individual's personal profile.
  • The photo service is available to employees of The Faculty of Social Science.

Why are employee photos important online?

  • High-quality portrait photos are often used by the media and are a professional component of the communication toolkit for journalists.

  • A professional portrait on a research institution's website helps establish trust between the researcher and the participant.

  • Employee photos make it easier for visitors to navigate our website and create a professional impression.

  • Employee photos are also beneficial for internal communication. They help others within the unit become more familiar with you.

  • Time is often limited when someone requires a photo. It's convenient for the SV-faculty to already have a photo of you, saving you the trouble of taking one at short notice.

Usage of employee photos

  • The photo will be uploaded to your personal profile, where a link to a high-resolution press photo will also be provided.
  • When someone needs a photo of you, direct them to your personal profile, where the photo can be easily downloaded.
  • The photo is free to use. UiO holds the rights to the image. Photos should always be credited to the photographer. If the photographer's name is unknown, "UiO" should be used. Be sure to inform people about this requirement when they use the photo. Read more about copyright on uio.no.
  • The photo may be used by the press, journals, and publishers, and can appear anywhere.

What is a personal profile?

All employees should have a personal profile (also known as a personal website or employee page). The faculty's web editor will help you set up this page. It is important to keep your page updated.

The profile contains your contact information, your photo, and a description of your work. You can also provide detailed information about projects, publications, and other matters you wish to share.

Typically, this page appears in search results when someone looks up your contact information in search engines or on the University of Oslo's website. Each employee is responsible for ensuring that the information on their page is accurate.
