- Academic staff in positions of 50% or more receive an annual sum of NOK 15.000. Academic staff in positions of less than 50% receive an annual sum of NOK 7.500.
- Personal research budgets are allocated to those employed as of 1 January each year. Funds cannot be transferred from one calendar year to another. Employees who take up, resume, or leave a position at IFIKK during the year are generally allocated funds on a pro-rata basis.
- PhD candidates and postdoctoral fellows receive NOK 30.000 per year. The total sum is available for use throughout the entire period of employment.
- PhD candidates receiving a 12-month completion grant receive NOK 30.000. Those receiving a 6-month completion grant receive NOK 15.000.
- Personal research budgets may be used for research-related activities, such as:
- Academic literature
- Professional travel, meetings, and courses
- Data collection and experiments
- Subscriptions to journals and newspapers
- Language editing and translations
- Membership fees in academic organisations[ACL2]
- Certain types of electronics and office supplies (contact the administrative manager or responsible person prior to purchase with a justified request).
- Purchases to be charged to personal research budgets must be made through UiO’s procurement system, with the exception of books and language editing. Reimbursement claims must be submitted promptly as expenses are incurred, and costs are covered in accordance with UiO’s guidelines.
- Purchases financed by personal research budgets are the property of the department and must be returned when the period of employment ends.
Guidelines for the use of personal research budgets
Your annual research budget are funds that you may use to support your research activities. The following guidelines were adopted by the Head of Department on 28 January 2025, and the amounts allocated for personal research budgets may be adjusted at the discretion of the leadership.
