Donate blood during work hours

The university allows staff to take time off during work hours to donate blood, which can be recorded as short-term leave.

Blood donation saves lives, and there are not enough blood donors in our region. "We find it crucial to make it easier for more people to become blood donors," says university director Arne Benjaminsen. He clarifies that blood donation absence can be registered as short-term leave.

Blood banks need constant replenishment

As blood has a limited shelf life, blood banks regularly need new supplies. New blood donors are always needed to replace those who can't donate anymore due to age, illness, medication, or relocation. Half a litre of blood can save three lives.

You can find instructions on how to register absence for blood donation, using the designated category, on the For employees page explaining how to record compassionate leave.
