Dear colleagues and students,
Earlier this week, I sent you an e-mail containing information about the upcoming study on a possible co-organisation of the Faculty of Medicine (MED) and the Faculty of Dentistry (OD), which can also be read in English here.
The working group that will conduct the study has now created a dedicated web page where you can follow the progress of the project (so far only in Norwegian). The MED management team will also keep you updated on the matter on an ongoing basis, through meetings, information in MED news and, if necessary, by issuing additional information e-mails.
Final stretch for the work on the annual plan
We are now also in the final stages of the work on the Faculty’s annual plan for 2024-2026. The plan is based directly on the Faculty's new strategy, which was adopted by the Faculty Board in September.
The work on the annual plan has also been conducted in close collaboration with the departments and units at faculty level. The plan will be presented to the Faculty Board for a decision in December. The annual plan will be used actively by the department management going forward and will be revised each year.
The Office of the Dean has a number of irons in the fire
Everyone at the Office of the Dean is busy working on a variety of tasks. As I said in the last issue of MED News, we are currently working hard on the plans to secure more spaces to study medicine, as well as on other programmes of study and various administrative processes.
Together with the UiO management, we also hosted the Anders Jahre Awards for Medical Research last week, which were presented as part of a full-day programme at the central university buildings.
Our own researchers also continue to impress, with several successful bids for both small and large research applications, including from the ERC, other EU awards and the Norwegian Research Society. In just a couple of weeks, the fourth and final doctoral conferral of the year will take place and I am very much looking forward to being able to congratulate 41 new doctors from the podium in the auditorium.
Thanks to you, there are a lot of interesting and positive things happening at the Faculty of Medicine. Feel free to follow the Faculty’s posts on social media, you can find us on facebook, X, linkedin and instagram.
Yours sincerely, Hanne
The Jahre Awards and Brain in the Centre
The 2023 Anders Jahre Awards for Medical Research were presented to Professor Maiken Nedergaard from the University of Copenhagen and Marcus Buggert from Karolinska Institute by Vice-Rector Per Morten Sandset in the University Auditorium on 9 November 2023. The traditional Jahre lectures delivered by the award recipients took place at Domus Bibliotheca during the morning. Nedergaard also attended a Brain in the Centre breakfast seminar at the same location.
