Dear all staff and students,

I hope you have all enjoyed some good days off over the Christmas break, that the spring semester of 2025 is off to a great start, and that 2025 will be a good year!

Good luck – both new students and graduating students!

The snow we missed during Christmas arrived in abundance at the beginning of this week, so much so that both the Dean of Studies Magnus L?berg and I took to our skis to welcome our new medical students to their studies.

It is always a great pleasure to welcome new, eager, motivated, and engaged students to our programmes.

– And it is also a great experience to attend the testimonium ceremony in the University's splendid aula when our students have completed their final exams and are ready to go out into Norway and the world to practise what they have learned.

The importance of training hundreds of new doctors and other healthcare personnel each year cannot be overstated. We believe they receive outstanding educations from distinguished teachers and researchers, which benefits us all.

Dialogue

Our dean team has spent the past two years on an extensive series of dialogue meetings across our large faculty. This week, we have visited the Technology and Intervention Clinic (TIK) and our Klinmed staff at the Intervention Centre at Oslo University Hospital, among others.

Through these meetings, we have met many of you working in education, research, innovation, communication, and administration at our faculty. This work is carried out in close collaboration with our partners, with whom we also hold regular meetings: the hospitals in the region, other faculties and universities, and other organisations and networks. This dialogue is crucial for us to achieve the goals in the faculty’s strategy and action plan, where our main objective is to work towards outstanding knowledge for the health of the future.

The faculty is currently preparing a brief summary of the work we have done together over these two years. In our Christmas greeting, we touched upon much of what has been central in the leadership's work in 2024, as well as what we will continue to work on in 2025. Please feel free to revisit this. And if you have any feedback for us, please get in touch!

Happy New Year!

With this, I wish you all the best for 2025. Let us all work from our respective positions to make the world a better place. Thank you for the great efforts you all are making.

Best regards, Hanne
