Interview with Election Committee Chairman Hagen about this autumn’s Dean Election
We are headed for an exciting election this autumn. MED-nytt has interviewed Election Committee Chairman Terje P. Hagen about the work on this year’s Dean Election and about the process leading up to the start of the election. Hagen serves as head of department at Helsam.

ERC Starting Grant awarded to Helene Kn?velsrud
In her new project, FINALphagy, Kn?velsrud will study how autophagy is turned off in the body. One of the aims of her research is that it should be applicable in the development of new forms of cancer treatment.

Will study Alzheimer's disease in a new EU project
Evandro Fei Fang will lead UiO's contribution to an extensive research project and network, financed through Horizon Europe. The goal is to develop a new medicine using artificial intelligence.

Nursing science at UiO is ranked 47th in this year’s Shanghai Ranking
Nursing Science at the Institute of Health and Society at the University of Oslo is ranked number 47 in this year’s Shanghai Ranking – 2022 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects.
Ragnhild Helles?, professor and head at the Department of Nursing Science, believes the high ranking is a result of long-term, important and socially relevant research and an active and creative research environment at the department, national and international research projects and collaboration, and educational programmes that meet expertise requirements in society. - 1 September Open seminar: Complexity in Action. Professor Trish Greenhalgh will receive the Honorary Doctorate from the University of Oslo. She will participate in an Open Seminar at Centre for Sustainable Healthcare Education (SHE) on Complexity in Action on 1 September 13.30-17.30.
- 2 September Annual Festivities 2022. UiO’s Annual Festivities and birthday will be celebrated in the University’s Aula from 18:00 to 19:30. There will be an Annual Party Ceremony in the Aula, with the conferring of honorary doctorates, the presentation of prizes and the King’s Gold Medal, speeches by the rector, honorary doctors and the head of the Student Parliament, as well as musical performances. In the autumn of 2023, 10 medical students will start their 5th year of academic study at the newly established UiO Campus South at the Hospital of Southern Norway. The information meeting is particularly relevant for module 4. There will be presentations about various parts of the study plan and practical matters by: Vice-Dean Elin Olaug Rosvold,Head of Education Knut Lundin and Head of Education Magnus L?berg.

Sustainable development is an overarching goal for global social development. In order to achieve this, good health is essential. IMB: Discovery of a gene that can reduce brain damage in newborns av Cecilie Bakken H?stmark.
The gene helps to repair brain damage caused by a lack of oxygen during birth, Norwegian researchers found.
