Collas will be responsible for a larger number of medical students and for managing ever-increasing costs. Philippe Collas is looking forward to taking on the job of Head of Institute at IMB. Congratulations!

Opening of the K. G. Jebsen Centre for Brain Fluid Research

?pning K.G.Jebsen-senterThe new Jebsen Centre is officially opened and will run for five years. The centre will build on new knowledge about brain fluid to improve the diagnosis and treatment of patients with brain diseases such as dementia and brain cancer.

Won Researcher Grand Prix with newborn placentaHelene Peterson vinner finalen

Helene Fjeldvik Peterson from Klinmed impressed both the audience and the judges during the final of Forsker Grand Prix 2024. She is now Norway's best research communicator. Read more on the institute's website (in Norwegian).

Gorm Edwin elected new leader of MedDocsGorm Edwin

Gorm Edwin aims to contribute to a more positive and productive research environment for PhD candidates in his new role as leader of MedDocs. He works as a specialist registrar in the vascular surgery department at Ullev?l Hospital, dividing his time equally between his clinical work and his PhD project. Read more about the election

The government is allocating 15 new study places to the University of Oslo for the planned decentralised UiO campus for medical students at Sykehuset Innlandet HF.

  • MED: Faculty board election: In Autumn 2024, a representative and two deputy representatives from the temporary scientific staff will be elected. The deadline to nominate your candidate is 20 October. 

  • Hege Berg Henriksen k?res til vinner av Philippe Collas

    IMB: Poster Exhibition 2024: Hege Berg Henriksen and the workshops won best poster awards. The Institute of Basic Medical Sciences (IMB) at the University of Oslo (UiO) organized Postertorget 2024 on Tuesday, September 24. The event was a great success, and the hope is that this can become an annual exhibition where our employees can present their research.

  • Helsam: Professors Reidun F?rde and Reidar Pedersen at the University of Oslo have developed a new course in medical ethics that focuses on ethical dilemmas in clinical practice. The course provides doctors with tools to handle complex situations. Read more in Tidsskriftet (in Norwegian).

  • Klinmed/ UB: Housewarming Party for Building 10 at Gaustad: 28 October from 15:00-17:00.

  • Livsvitenskapsbygget

    UiO: The Road to the Life Sciences Building, lunch seminar on 26 November from 10:00 - 14:00. Will you be working in the Life Sciences Building? We invite all future occupants to a gathering.

  • UiO: Transition to a New Email System at UiO: All MED email addresses will be migrated in December.

    1. Check that you have registred the correct mobile number in the DF? portal to ensure you recieve notifications via SMS when you are moved.

  • UiO: UiO will produce access cards in-house. Production and distribution of cards will still be at Kristian Ottosen's house on Blindern, but from 30 September it will be called the Card Centre, not SiO Customer Service. Apart from new opening hours, there are only minor changes.

  • 22 October: Exclusion – A Democratic Problem That Starts in Childhood? in Norwegian, Domus Bibliotheca 12:30. We are living longer and our health is continuously improving, but the inequalities in society are increasing. Is there reason to be concerned that the welfare state does not encompass everyone? PhD candidate Monica Christine Haune from the Faculty of Medicine will be contributing to the event.
  • 28 October - 1 November (if enough interest): UiO-course for everyone working in the lab: researchers, technicians, managers, and assistants. Register your interest: Sign-up form for "eLabJournal Workshop at UiO.
  • 30 October: Course for PhD Candidates and Postdoctoral Fellows Organised by the Faculty of Education. The course is free. Register as soon as possible to secure a place: Project management in academia. The course is aimed at researchers in the early stages of their careers. Participants will gain a basic understanding of project management and how to reduce uncertainty in research projects. They will learn about the similarities and differences between "traditional" project management and the management of research projects, as well as how project management in academia is an important transferable skill.

K?re-Olav Stensl?kken og S?ren Erik PischkeIMB: Fruit, Vegetables, and Organ Transplantation
When the Research Fair was recently held at the Technical Museum, the Institute of Basic Medical Sciences intrigued the audience with a mountain of fruits and vegetables, along with one live and one deceased pig kidney.
