FRIPRO - new opportunities

 Dean of Research Jan Bj?lie informs that UiO:Life Science has introduced a new and attractive incentive scheme that can assist you with your FRIPRO application. Since the Research Council of Norway (NFR) started with rolling deadlines, MED has only received one allocation.

On 18th September, the University Board decided to establish the University of Oslo's new Centre for Global Sustainability, of which our centre, Sustainit, will become a part. The new centre will begin operations before summer 2025. Professor Eivind Engebretsen is the head of SUSTAINIT and has a guest post in MED-Nytt.

IMB Professor Joel C. Glover and his project colleagues have been awarded NOK 15 million to develop powerful platforms for stem cell-based lab models of neurodegenerative diseases.

Blix Prize to Two Outstanding Young ResearchersLangeland og Kujjer

Peder Langeland Myhre (Klinmed) receives the prize for outstanding research in cardiovascular diseases. Marieke Kuijjer (NCMM) is awarded the prize for outstanding research in cancer.

Overview: Upcoming public defence.

  • 30 October: Course for Ph.D. candidates and postdoctoral researchers organised by the Faculty of Education. The course is free of charge. Register as soon as possible to secure a place: Project management in academia. The course is aimed at early-career researchers. Participants will gain a basic understanding of project management and how to reduce uncertainty in research projects. You will learn about the similarities and differences between "traditional" project management and research project management, and that project management in academia is an important transferable skill.
