On Monday, March 18, we received a visit from the Minister of Digitalization Nikolai Astrup at the opening of the Data Science Lab in ÑDz©ÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø_ÑDz©ptÊÖ»ú¿Í»§¶ËµÇ¼sparken. It was an inspiring meeting between researchers, established companies, entrepreneurs and the minister who has the national responsibility for nothing less than to digitize Norway.
This year the Sustainable Backpack celebrates its ten year anniversary. Since 2009, a total of 619 schools have completed school projects in order to give students management ability competence for sustainable development. The students of today have clearly proved their insight and engagement for sustainable development through the recent student strike, where they demanded ¡°green actions¡± from the politicians.
In our new strategy at the Faculty, data science and computing receives a lot of attention, both method research under the heading "Digitalization and Computational Science" and as an important tool for solving scientific challenges in most research areas at the Faculty.
We have dived into our new roles as deans: Knut as new Vice Dean for Education and Solveig with new tasks within research in her role as Vice Dean for Research.
A group of scientists from the Department of Mathematics are heading for Svalbard to investigate the interactions between waves and sea ice. For the first time since the beginning of their annual expeditions in 2015, they will have the opportunity to ¡°see¡± the mechanisms taking place underneath the ice. This time they are equipped with a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV), which may turn out to be one of their most important measurement instruments.
Our strategy ?Knowledge development in a changing world? says that our candidates shall be successful both academically and professionally. As a means of educating candidates with the knowledge and competence that is sought after in the labor market, we are initiating one of the instruments; internship.

Next week is the fourth annual Oslo Life Science Week. A sneak start occurs when Prime Minister Erna Solberg comes to UiO and Gaustadbekkdalen tomorrow, Friday February 8th, to take the first sod for the new Life Sciences building. The occasion will be marked by the performance of the Darwin oriatorium, an original composition that UiO: Life Sciences has supported the recording of, as well as speeches by the Prime Minister and the Rector.

The Department of Pharmacy has since 2016 participated in a collaborative project between four of the faculties at the University of Oslo. The project focuses on interprofessional learning. The aim of "Sammen i praksis" is to give students from different health care educations the opportunity to learn together, and from each other in clinical practice.
