This week we were exposed to the term "Zoom-fatigue", and it hits well. We are really grateful to all of you, who, despite a sad work situation, ensure that the wheels turn, the students receive their teaching and exams, and that research applications are submitted. Although the University has been regulated by strict access restrictions for more than a year, we deliver efficiently at the Faculty. Operational tasks are delivered as normal, and the students perform well. However, the economy shows that – as expected – there is a backlog in research activity. The time ahead will clarify the severity of these delays.
We are most concerned about our students, PhD students and postdocs – especially those who come from abroad and live isolated in small dormitories without family and networks. We trust that supervisors and colleagues show them extra care in a difficult time!
Fortunately, it is heading towards brighter times, and the Norwegian population is vaccinated steadily – despite serious incidents and an unwelcome delay. We in the Faculty Management are now looking forward to the Easter holidays, which provides an opportunity for a long-awaited break. We hope you all will take a few days off and enjoy spring and life outdoors!
