Mission and passion
We base our ?pen dag schedule on the strategic priorities of the Faculty, spiced up with topics by popular demand. Visit talks on climate and environment in the Arctic as well as opportunities with Big Data. Enjoy the enthusiastic researchers, PhDs and students, who happily share their passion for Animal Evolution, Artificial Intelligence and Space.
The pursuit of the dream job
We wish to shed light on our chosen topics from many angels. Hence, a student of biology, a geoscientist and a mathematician will all be talking about the Arctic, from their own scientific point of view. We want to show the students that many different paths can lead to a job within his/her chosen field, such as health. You do not have to be a medical doctor to save lives. Besides, if anyone saves the world, it is the people with an education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Our guests are also attending information lectures where students, scientific and administrative staffers will guide them through the jungle of study programs, learning outcomes, admission and program structure, and enlighten them on what life as a student is like.
Young science communicators
The many student councils will dominate the hall of Vilhelm Bjerknes?s house. They traditionally compete to make the best stand, offering visitors to hold a mega snail, explore the spin effect with the physicists and electronic building blocks with the informatics students. RF will bring their famous baffles up from the basement for all to enjoy, while answering our science quiz. And if you are getting restless, you can join the Science Library for a tour including Norway’s biggest collection of science fiction, Donald Duck, LEGO and 3D printing.
Academic titbits
The table is set, and we welcome science lovers and anyone hungry for knowledge and inspiration to join us at ?pen dag.
Check out the program (Norwegian only), leave some time in your busy work schedule to come and have a look, and do not forget to invite students who would be interested to study at UiO.
