Infection in the population
There is infection in the population and new outbreaks are coming. Our task, in addition to giving the new students a brilliant reception, is therefore to contribute to the work of preventing the spread of the corona infection. We know that employees and student buddies are well prepared for the coming weeks, but I still want to emphasize the importance of everyone being well acquainted with and follow the health authorities' rules and advice against the spread of infection. Please check UiO’s website regularly for updated information on how the corona situation impacts you and the University.
Face masks
There are reasons to believe that rules and advice from the health authorities in the near future also will include the use of face masks. We would therefore ask everyone to be prepared. In some contexts, you might have to wear a face mask conducting your work at the University of Oslo. If you have the opportunity, you should also test the use of face masks.
Infection tracking
Infection outbreaks can also occur on campus, and the likelihood of them occurring in the future is relatively high. All employees and students must contact health services themselves in the event of corona symptoms, a desire for testing or a confirmed corona infection. In addition, we want employees to notify the Faculty by telephone 0047 920 50 857 as soon as possible in the event of confirmed cases of infection among employees and students at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The Faculty will ensure that appropriate bodies are notified.
Staffing of tel: 0047 920 50 857
The corona telephone at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences will be staffed from Monday 10 August and then every weekday between 08:00 and 20:00. Initially, this phone will be manned through the start of the semester and a few weeks ahead.
Autumn's most beautiful adventure (“H?stens vakreste eventyr”)
I wish all students and staff good luck with your planned work and activities in the weeks to come. We are going to have a great time, even though we have to be a little more vigilant than we usually are. It is important that we help Norway deal with the corona situation. At the end of next week, there will be a new newsletter where we will try to gather some experience related to the first days of this autumn's most beautiful adventure – the start-up week for new students at the University of Oslo.
