The past year has been challenging for us all. We hope that we are close to getting back to a normal work environment. The University of Oslo and our Faculty should be an energetic place for work and studies, where students and researchers can get together and create a community of knowledge and new experiences. Our Faculty’s ambition of having an excellent working and study environment as a basis for ground-breaking research, knowledge development and the development of young talents presupposes that we can meet and work together.
Back to the office
Oslo Municipality's requirement for working from home has ended, and national rules apply. We are now in step 3 and are entering a normal situation where the main workplace is our premises on campus. Until further notice, the requirement of one meter social distance applies, as well as care for those not yet vaccinated and employees in vulnerable categories. Working from home will now gradually change from being a pure measure for prevention of infection to a dynamic instrument for the future– used in close dialogue with your immediate manager and team – to raise productivity and well-being in our common work environment.

Teaching
Our students were heartily welcomed on Monday August 16. It was warming to see so many new faces on campus and at our Faculty again. Normal access and opening hours for UiO’s buildings applies. Students have also been exempt from the social distancing requirements during teaching, which means that we can use all our classrooms in the usual way. Continued requirements for infection tracing will be taken care of by the registration on the course.
UiO maintains the social distance requirement of one meter in the reading rooms as well as the current reservation requirement. As of Sunday August 15, people with admission to a PhD program at a Norwegian educational institution have the opportunity to re-enter the country. Test and quarantine requirements must be followed in line with other persons coming from third countries.
Self-test kits offered during start of studies
Finally, we would like to remind you that from semester start on Monday 16th and the following three weeks UiO is offering COVID-19 self-test kits for symptom-free students and staff. The test kits are handed out in Georg Sverdrup's house at Blindern and at Domus Juridica in the city center. SiO also still has test stations on campus. Safety on campus has high priority!
