Health Research
Health projects need 'Internal pre-approval' before applying to REC. This is an obligatory confirmation that the planned project is in line with PSI/UiO procedures. Fill in and upload the protocol (project description) in the web-form 'Internal pre-approval'.
Health projects must then seek approval from REC - Regional Committees for Medical and Health Research Ethics. For details on which projects need approval and procedures for application visit the REC-portal. It is possible to submit the project for a quick pre-evaluation if you are uncertain.
- State PSI as responsible institution in the application.
- Upload a copy of the full REC-application and letter of approval in ForskPro.
- Follow the guidelines set in the 'Qualtity assurance system for health and medical research'
Handling Personal Data
All research projects handling personal data need to seek approval from SIKT - Norwegian Agency for Shared Services in Education and Research. If you are uncertain whether your project handles personal data go through the SIKT online checklist.
- Send application using the SIKT online Notification Form.
Note:
- Even if your dataset is de-identified (using a codekey or similar), you are still processing personal data according to the law. Fully anonymous are data only when they cannot be traced back to a person (no link exists).
- Compiling of variables (which are not individually identifiable) can make a dataset personally identifiable.
Internal Ethical Review
If required an ethical review may be obtained by submitting your project to the PSI Internal Ethics Committee.
