UiO has several different support schemes for innovative researchers: seed funding from the UiO Growth House and innovation funding from UiO as well as admission to the innovation programmes SPARK Norway and SPARK Social Innovation. Co-Create is all about helping students turn big ideas into real solutions for real-world problems. Students in the Oslo region who are curious about startups and entrepreneurship or just love solving problems can now apply to attend the new student innovation programme Co-Create. Application deadline for the initial design thinking workshops in March is 7 March.
The Growth House at University of Oslo is managing a new collaborative project which will strengthen the student innovation culture in the Oslo region. The project has been granted support from Innovation Norway. The goal is to establish more start-ups and contribute to value creation. OsloMet, BI, Kristiania, the Norwegian University of Life Sciences and Startuplab are collaborators.

Companies that want to offer summer jobs through the internship programme supported by the UiO Growth House, can now sign up to attend in 2024. We hope to offer as many students as possible a summer job through the programme. Companies with fewer than ten employees can apply for co-funding of positions.

A model of the value chain for the health industry will help shed light on bottlenecks on the way from research and ideas to pharmaceuticals, medical devices or digital therapies that are exported and sold globally. It will help us prioritise when we are to build a sustainable Norwegian health industry in line with the government's new road map for the health industry. The UiO Growth House, dScience – Centre for Computational and Data Science, UiO:Life Science and UiO:Energy and Environment are now co-located in Oslo Science Park. ‘Now the units can work more closely together and draw on each other's expertise as well as extract synergies from each other. This gives UiO the opportunity to develop its strategic initiatives and strengthen the innovation thinking’, says UiO's vice-rector for research and innovation Per Morten Sandset.
In 2022 the Life Science Growth House was established as UiO’s innovation unit for life sciences, health and technology. In 2023 we change our name to UiO Growth House to show that we cover all departments and centres at the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.
