– This year, we will highlight how excellent research in artificial intelligence combined with health data can lay the groundwork for better and more efficient healthcare services and treatments, contribute to sustainable welfare for a rapidly aging population, and lead to increased value creation in the health industry. We will also focus on how the Norwegian health industry can become more competitive internationally and how we can attract more investments, says Carl Henrik G?rbitz, Conference Director and Director of UiO:Life Science.

After the opening with Rector Svein St?len and Governing Mayor of Oslo Eirik Lae Solberg, the first speaker on the podium will be Stefan Woxstr?m, Senior Vice President for Europe and Canada at AstraZeneca. He will focus on ?What does investing in Norway involve.? The opening will also feature State Secretary in the Ministry of Digitalization and Public Administration, Torgeir Micaelsen, who will speak about ?Digitalization, AI, and the use of health data as drivers for better healthcare services, outstanding research, and new health industries.?

Three international keynote speakers

On the programme, we have three internationally recognized names as keynote speakers. Timothy Miller, Vice President of Enterprise Science and Innovation at Thermo Fisher Scientific, will take the stage to talk about how they use health data and artificial intelligence in diagnostics and drug development.

Erwin B?ttinger, Director of the Wyss Center for Bio and Neuroengineering in Switzerland, will lead us into the future and share his reflections on how artificial intelligence and technology will revolutionize patient care. Additionally, Patrick Schwab, Senior Director of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, GSK will focus on how artificial intelligence can transform the healthcare sector and benefit both patients and society.

We will also focus on the challenges associated with using health data and what is needed to increase access. This will be the topic of the panel discussion with the leaders of Oslo University Hospital, Trondheim Municipality, the Norwegian Directorate of Health, and the Norwegian Institute of Public Health.

Something to look forward to is the ?Menon Report: Baseline Analysis for Health Export Initiatives - an Overview Presentation of the Report with Key Figures for the Health Industry?, which will be launched during the conference. There will also be a panel discussion featuring Erna Solberg, leader of the Conservative Party; Cathrine Thomassen, Director at GE Healthcare; Ingrid Teigland Akay, Partner at Hadean Ventures; and Kjetil Taskén, Head of the Institute for Cancer Research at Oslo University Hospital and Professor at the University of Oslo.

The programme day 2

On 12 February, we turn the attention to the competitiveness of Europe, Norway, and the Nordic countries. Ida Sofie Jensen, CEO of LIF Denmark, will discuss Denmark's life sciences strategy, while Friedemann Janus from Bayer will offer an investment perspective in his presentation. Minister of Trade and Industry Cecilie Myrseth will  present the government's policies and ambitions for developing the Norwegian health industry.

?Are we prepared to do what it takes to succeed?? is the theme for a subsequent panel debate featuring Sveinung Stensland from the Conservative Party, Ida Sofie Jensen (LIF Danmark), Rector of the University of Oslo Svein St?len, Per Niederbach from Innovation Norway, and Leif Rune Skymoen, CEO of LMI.

We will also focus on challenges within the healthcare system, and we will hear from Malene Fisher, Research Director at Rigshospitalet, Denmark. Examples of how health data and artificial intelligence can address these challenges will be presented, by Peter Speyer, Head of Data, Analytics & AI at Novartis Foundation, who will demonstrate how health data and artificial intelligence can improve public health and reduce inequalities.

Over the course of the two-day conference, there will be six parallel sessions providing insights into excellent research in health data and artificial intelligence from academia, hospitals, and industry.

Young Talents - the career event for master's students, PhD candidates, and postdocs, is on the programme, and there will be a pitching session with an introduction by Bobby Soni from the BioInnovation Institute in Copenhagen.
