On Tuesday 13 February, Minister of Education and Research, Oddmund L?kensgard Hoel opens the conference. Andrew Morris, Director of health data research in the UK while also be joining at Meet Ullevaal. He will provide a broad introduction to health data with examples ranging from pandemic management to international legislation. Tariq Khokhar, Head of Data for Science and Health at the Wellcome Trust, will explain what the research foundation emphasizes in its investments in health in general and health-based research and development in particular.
– I am very much looking forward to Boston Consulting Group's (BCG) presentation of the report "Establishing Norway as a health data leader – what will it take" where they identify opportunities, obstacles and concrete measures to make Norway an international leader in access to and use of health data, says Carl Henrik G?rbitz.
Representatives from our neighboring countries will share success stories, challenges and opportunities, and we will show how health data can contribute to outstanding research, but also how legal restrictions regulate access and use. The day ends with a discussion about ambitions and the way forward with, among others, State Secretary Karl Kristian Bekeng (Labour Party) and Tone Tr?en (Conservative Party).
The programme day 2
On 14 February, Minister of Trade and Industry, Jan Christian Vestre will talk about how to attract investment and talent to develop the Norwegian life sciences industry.
Health data is also on the agenda this day, and we will hear what Finland has achieved in terms of public-private partnerships based on its data lakes by a panel composed of P?ivi Sillanaukee, Special Envoy for Health & Well-being, Ministry for Social Affairs and Health in Finland,Tero Ylisaukko-oja, who is the founder and head of MedEngine and Matthew Iles, General Manager of AbbVie Scandinavia.
We will also discuss the pitfalls and opportunities for research and analysis on Norwegian data sources. There will be parallel sessions on Health data for better and more sustainable patient care, pitching contest and Young Talents, where postdocs, PhD and master's students get the opportunity to network with companies.
