The project raises a range of political questions: Can “Nord Stream 2” strengthen the European energy security or will it only increase the EU’s dependency on Russian gas exports? How will the pipeline impact the Ukraine’s political and economic situation by bypassing it as an important transit country? In which way will the European energy markets react to this new gas supply? And why does the US threaten pipeline investors with sanctions through a newly adopted law?
Together with Arild Moe (Fridtjof Nansen Institute) and Kacper Szulecki (University of Oslo), Student’s Initiative on Foreign Affairs invites to a relevant and interesting discussion of the different geopolitical consequences of this highly controversial infrastructure project.
