Changing display language for Windows

All Windows installations at the UiO contains both English and Norwegian. You can change the display language at any time. If you want Windows in another language, please contact your local IT staff.

For local IT staff: USIT releases language packs for Norwegian and English. If you need to install another language pack, please use Windows Update.

In this guide, English is used for the interface objects. If your Windows is in Norwegian, you'll find the interface objects in Norwegian in brackets.

To change display language:

  1. Open the Start menu and write lang for "language" (spr for spr?k in Norwegian), and click Change display language (Endre visningsspr?k in Norwegian):

  2. Click the dropdown menu Choose a display language (Visningsspr?k in Norwegian) and select the language you want to use. Click Apply (Bruk) and then OK. You need to log off and then on again before the language setting takes effect. Please note that if you want to use a language which is not English or Norwegian, you'll need to get your local IT staff to install a language pack on you computer.
