General information about security at UiO
Dear students at the Faculty of Medicine,
We live in a time of much unrest in the world. Threat situations can also arise in Norway, such as last week. I would like to give you some brief, general information about how we at the faculty handles such situations.
First, I would like to emphasize that all our students and staff should feel safe, respected and included, regardless of background, nationality, religion, gender or sexual orientation.
I would also like to assure you that the university is in regular contact with the authorities, the police and others about the general security situation and various threat assessments. Sometimes the university also takes measures, although this is often not announced. If special precautions are needed, information will be provided about this.
I would also like to remind you that anyone can contact the university's Security Operation Center, either if something should happen or if you feel insecure at the university. They can be contacted on 22 85 50 07, or in an emergency on 22 85 66 66.
Feel free to visit sikresiden.no (in english) to learn more about how individuals can contribute to preventing incidents and what to do if any unexpected situation occurs.
I wish you all a good semester ahead. Good luck with your exciting and important studies!
Sincerely,
Hanne Flinstad Harbo
Dean
