Energy Planning and Sustainable Development Class 2006

During the third week in the course of Energy Planning and Sustainable Development, students had a chance to experience the beauties of our host country and to learn more about the energy system in Norway.

The tour started on the 10th of July in Porsgrunn, the following were Lindnesnes, Stavanger--the oil capital of Norway, Odda and ended at the eco village Hurdal on the 15th.

Students had the opportunity to see Norway both as the country of extreme natural beauties and as one of the most developed countries in the world. Thanks to its natural resources and their clever management, Norway accomplished its welfare.

“We saw two parts with opposed views of life. On one side, there were the biggest pollutants of the country and strategies to prevent the pollution and on the other side producers from renewable energy sources. Finally, we met people that live in harmony with nature, covering their needs by spending much fewer resources than than average in Norway. So this mix of opposite attitudes, from oil director to ecology farm owner, is an experience that can open our vision of the world the most” said one of the students from the course.
