How to apply for Visa

• Check on the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration's website to see if you need a visitor's visa to study at the ISS.
• The application process can take several months, start early.
• Contact the nearest Norwegian Embassy or Consulate as soon as you confirm your place in the program to start the visa application process.
  • If Norway does not have an Embassy/Consulate in your country, contact a Swedish, Danish, German, French or Belgian Embassy or Consulate for assistance.
• If you plan to travel to other countries in the Schengen Area, you must apply for a visa that includes the total amount of time in the Schengen Area.
• If you plan to travel to countries outside of the Schengen Area, you must apply for those visas separately. 
• Visa fees are not covered by any ISS scholarships.

What to bring to the embassy?

• Admission letter (can be downloaded from the online application portal).
• Airline ticket showing travel dates.
• Other documentation required by the Embassy/Consulate.

Visa rejected?

• The ISS cannot alter negative visa decisions.
• If you are denied a visa and cannot attend the Summer School, please contact the ISS office immediately.
