Network for Administrators Involved in Interdisciplinary Initiatives (NAT)

The network provides an opportunity to learn as a community and share best practices, serving as a support structure when challenges arise.

Background

In 2023, INTED established a network for administrative personnel involved in interdisciplinary initiatives (NAT). By 202, NAT had grown to include over 20 individuals at the University of Oslo (UiO). A selection of relevant faculties and centers at UiO are represented in the network, and its members have extensive experience handling the daily challenges associated with interdisciplinary education.

Projects

INTED aims to develop a systematic understanding of the challenges related to interdisciplinary education and has begun mapping practices for organizing interdisciplinary education and their consequences in 2024. As the first project, the network examined how a new interdisciplinary program, formed in collaboration between three departments, was organizationally distributed between local and central parts of university administration. In 2025, projects will address the financial constraints and consequences of interdisciplinary education.
