Program for Basic Competence in University Pedagogy
This program aims to enhance your basic competence in university pedagogy through immersive practical exercises, pedagogical theory, and fostering a collaborative exchange of experiences among fellow participants.
Target group
The Program for Basic Competence in University Pedagogy is offered to scientific staff with teaching duties at UiO.
Objective
After completing the program, you will be able to
- Describe, justify and discuss your own teaching practice in light of theory and research on learning and teaching
- Further develop your teaching repertoire
- Engage students in varied learning activities
- Select appropriate digital tools to support your students' learning
- Create and further develop good digital and analog learning environments
- Engage in knowledge-based development of your own teaching and supervision practices
- Contribute to the development of engaging study programs
- Contribute to strengthening the quality of education at your own institution
Structure
The program has a total scope of 200 hours and is divided into 2 semesters
- Semester 1 with a Foundation module in university pedagogy, including peer mentoring (120 hours)
- Semester 2 with a Pedagogical Development project (50 hours) and Elective modules (30 hours). It is mandatory to have started or completed the Foundation module before continuing with the Pedagogical Development project and Elective modules.
If you are employed in a II position with less that 50% working time, you are only required to complete 100 hours of the program. See Rules for basic university pedagogical competence for II positions at UiO.
