The year began with a joint retreat with another Scandinavian Centre of Excellence, Music in the Brain, from Aarhus University. Almost 100 participants were meeting in Copenhagen for academic and social exchange.

RITMO has a tradition of organizing a "FITMO" activity during retreats. Kyrre Glette, Anne Danielsen, and Alexander Refsum Jensenius invited Peter Vuust for a run and ended up with a long, running sightseeing around Copenhagen.

RITMO's research fellows take turns in leading various activities at the centre as part of our Career Development Programme. Here, postdoctoral fellow Bilge Serdar introduces guest speaker David L?berg Code during our internal, weekly Food & Paper lunch seminar.

The Wednesday lunch seminars are also a time to celebrate achievements. Here, researcher Mari Romarheim Haugen talks about a new chapter published in a book edited by Clemens W?llner and Justin London. By coincidence, Justin London was visiting RITMO at the time of publication.

Postdoctoral research fellow Guilherme Schmidt C?mara has initiated RITMO's coffee club, with monthly testing of various types of unusual beans and coffee brewing methods. Visiting researcher David L?berg Code brought a bag of creme brulee-flavoured beans from Kalamazoo.

The fourMs Lab is actively used for research experiments and also serves as a hub for networked music performances. Here, a group of master's students in the Music, Communication & Technology program runs a concert with a band composed of pupils from nearby Edvard Munch High School. Such events help promote our education and research activities to prospective students.

Diversity is a continued discussion topic at RITMO. Former RITMO postdoctoral fellow Anais Lorens came back in a virtual session about gender bias, presenting findings from her article Gender bias in academia: A lifetime problem that needs solutions.

15 RITMOanians teamed up to run the Holmenkollen relay in May, together with 50,000 other participants!

The spring semester ended with a hike to Vettakollen, with a spectacular view of Oslo.

In September, RITMO welcomed Ukrainian composer Alisa Kobzar for a residency in the motion capture lab, which ended with a public music¨Cdance performance as part of the Ultima Contemporary Music Festival.

Kyrre Glette tests a "rumbling chair" that will be installed at Popsenteret, a popular music museum in Oslo. This is part of a psychology student project exploring bass sound below the audible threshold.
