Aim
This project aims to explore the interpersonal interactions between musicians and audiences, as well as their level of absorption in the music, during repeated performances of the 2025 New Year's Concert Series by the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra.
Methods
This research employed a mixed-methods approach, incorporating qualitative and quantitative data collection. Audience movement patterns were captured using infrared and thermal camera systems from overhead, while musicians' movements were tracked using thermal cameras, GoPros, and in-house video cameras. Additionally, selected audience members participated in interviews.
Funding
This project is partially funded by the European Union’s Horizon research
and innovation program under the Marie Sk?odowska-Curie grant agreement No. 101108755.
