Course content
There are many signs indicating that the Mobile Internet is emerging now. It is not clear, however, how fast and in what direction this development is going.
One may even discuss whether Mobile Internet is a new phenomenon or just a trivial extension of Internet to new devices and infrastructures. That discussion in itself is highly interesting.
There are many reasons for studying this phenomenon now:
- Several enabling conditions like handsets, networks, browsers, content, and software platforms appear to be in place.
- Important challenges remain, e.g. mobile computer-human interaction, user needs, business models, organisation of service and innovation arena.
- The theme is picked up by some conferences (e.g., mobile CHI, EURO mGov, mSociety) making early literature and research approaches available.
- Several local companies are active in the field, making it possible to collect experiences and real data.
This is a seminar introducing the students to the upcoming phenomenon of Mobile Internet and the emerging literature in the field.

Recommended previous knowledge
Suitable for all Master’s and PhD students in information systems
INF 5261 is recommended
Teaching
The course is arranged as a weekly seminar (2 hours) where published papers are discussed. All participants are supposed to prepare the discussion at least once.
Examination
Project report (task defined in cooperation with the teacher).
Grading scale
Grades are awarded on a scale from A to F, where A is the best grade and F is a fail. Read more about the grading system.
