STV2240 International Terrorism and Stability Operations

Answer one of the following two questions:
- Protection of civilians has become a central task in peace and stability operations. Discuss the reasons for this development, the challenges pertaining to the use of military force to protect civilians, and the approach of the different organizations, especially NATO and the UN in regard to this task.
- Counter insurgency (COIN) is a central element in military stability operations. Discuss the main principles in the COIN theory. Discuss the Libya operation in relation to COIN operations. What are the differences and similarities?
You can answer the questions in English or in one of the Scandinavian languages.
