CONT4103 – Paul - His Life and Theology

Course content
Paul was a founder figure of Early Christianity. His writings are important not only for the establishment of the Christian faith but also for the whole history of Western culture. The apostle‘s theology will be understood in relation to his life and his ministry as letter writer and founder of urban congregations.
Learning outcome
This course will establish acquaintance with Paul's life and letters as well as knowledge of his theology including the conflict at Corinth with this city's lasting memories of Greek democracy and its present realities under Roman rule.

Access to teaching
A student who has completed compulsory instruction and coursework and has had these approved, is not entitled to repeat that instruction and coursework. A student who has been admitted to a course, but who has not completed compulsory instruction and coursework or had these approved, is entitled to repeat that instruction and coursework, depending on available capacity.
Examination
A three days home exam
Active participation and oral and written presentations including reading of the Pauline letters in translation are required in addition to the home exam.
