Presentation

The use of AI is becoming ubiquitous. In software development for example, tasks can be (semi)-automated using AI and software organizations already report benefits from using AI. In our work, we have focused on improving the quality of software by creating fine-tuned models that can aid software practitioners in some key tasks. We will show how we created such models, how they might be a better choice than using out-of-the-shelf LLMs such as ChatGPT, and when we are with their practical application in software organizations.

Speaker

Antonio Martini is a Professor at the University of Oslo. He obtained a PhD in Software Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden in 2015. His latest interests include using AI for software engineering, specifically for technical debt and software architecture, and to improve software engineering practices for AI. In general, his research focus is on managing Technical Debt, Architecture, Technical Leadership, and Agile software development. He is very keen to work with software companies and improve the state of art and practice together. His experience covers Software Engineering and Management in several contexts: large, embedded software companies, small, web companies, business to business companies, startups.

Martini has collaborated with several large companies such as Ericsson, Volvo, Saab, Axis, Grundfos, Siemens, Bosch, Jeppesen, Siemens, Visma, AKVA Group, Knowit, and more. He has also worked with his own company and ran consultancy projects to manage and visualize Technical Debt.

About the seminar series

Once a month, dScience will invite you to join us for lunch and professional talks at the Science Library. In addition to these, we will serve lunch in our lounge in Kristine Bonnevies house every Thursday. Due to limited space (40 people), this will be first come, first served. See how to find us here.

Our lounge can also be booked by PhDs and Postdocs on a regular basis, whether it is for a meeting or just to hang out – we have fresh coffee all day long!
