On January 17, dScience hosted a full day of engaging sessions as part of WEEK?—Casting Light on Careers, designed to inspire and equip early career researchers. Held in the dScience lounge, this event brought together PhD candidates, postdocs, and researchers for valuable insights into career development.

Organised by NORA.ai, this session provided a comprehensive overview of the AI ecosystem in Norway by Klas Pettersen, CEO NORA.ai. Participants learned about opportunities available through NORA Research School and NORA.startup, including internships, conferences, and collaborations that can help bridge the gap between academia and industry.

Why Innovation is the Safer and More Fun Career Option.

The Centre for Digital Life Norway (DLN) hosted a discussion on the benefits of pursuing a career in innovation. Attendees got presented the potential rewards and risks of entrepreneurship, gained practical advice on biotech startups, and discovered options like postdoc industry internships to diversify their career paths.

Gustavo Adolfo Agudelo-Cantero, Postdoctoral fellow at UiO, and member of DLN's Junior Resource Group, shared his experiences with the DLN Research School. 

Session 3

dScience Partner Program & DNV Workshop: Industry Collaboration for a Successful Twin Transition.

Morten D?hlen is Centre Leader, dScience – Centre for Computational and Data Science, and Professor in Computational Mathematics/Informatics, UiO.

Co-hosted with DNV, this workshop highlighted the critical role of industry collaboration in driving sustainability and digital transformation.

Andreas Havfer
Andreas Hafver is a Principal Research Scientist at DNV and leads the Emerging Assurance Technologies team.

DNV shared its comprehensive approach to managing AI risks, ensuring compliance, and maximising the benefits of AI-enabled systems. The session emphasised practical, real-world applications and valuable lessons for advancing innovation in industry.

Vegard Flovik
Vegard Flovik is a Senior AI Research Scientist in the Risk and Modeling Technologies group at DNV.
