Background
Andy manages the Norwegian Research Council-funded Innovation Roadmap project. This 30M NOK project trials novel innovation interventions in the Norwegian biotech ecosystem. Data from these pilots will be used to develop a roadmap to transform and accelerate innovation in research-intensive biotechnology.
Andy has a background in the development and commercialisation of emerging biotech technologies. He co-founded a University of Bristol spinout and was CEO for three years. He led two funding rounds, built a multidisciplinary team and drove the business mission to use its diagnostics platform to detect and stratify metabolic diseases. He has a PhD in cancer research and has held several innovation support roles including consulting for venture capital and early-stage deeptech companies, founding the Innovation Programme at the Bristol Centre for Synthetic Biology (which created 7 new companies) as well as innovation policy roles at the UK's Research Councils.
