Research
The University of Oslo (UiO) has a huge variety of high impact research activities within computational science and data science.
dScience is a center for developing and supporting new and important interdisciplinary research within computational science and data science across UiO and together with partners, e.g. understand data, find suitable representations of knowledge, ensure high quality development of artificial intelligence application, handle uncertainty in machine/deep learning, understand phenomena and complex systems through computing and data analysis, etc.

Research activities & projects
In addition to developing generic methods and algorithms, dScience develops projects within the following application areas, including health, ocean, energy & finance.
What is computational science and data science?
Computational science is about the development of methods and algorithms to solve and understand complex phenomena and problems. Data science is about the development of methods, algorithms and systems to organize, refine and extract knowledge from data. dScience merges computational science and data science.
