Panel debate: Why aren't we transitioning?

Why isn't Norway transitioning away from fossil fuels? This is the theme of the third event in Transition Week!

Bildet kan inneholde: smil, lykke, reklame.

The Green Office and the newly launched Green Student Movement invite you to a panel discussion on the status of the Norwegian energy transition at Klimahuset (The Climate House).

Is oil dependency a strength or a vulnerability in the Norwegian economy? Does continued oil exploration provide security or unpredictability for the workforce in the offshore sector? And are further investments in oil and gas a prerequisite or a brake on the development of alternative green industries?

With the help of an excellent panel, we will discuss why Norway is not transitioning away from oil and gas – and what it will take to do so.

The panel consists of:

  • Klaus Mohn – Rector at UiS, petroleum economist
  • Knut Einar Rosendahl – Professor of Economics at NMBU
  • Camilla Houeland – labor researcher at FAFO
  • Anne Karin S?ther – project manager at the Norwegian Climate Foundation

The event will be held in Norwegian, and food will be served. Join us to discuss the future working life for today's students!
