The Natural History Museum, The Historical Museum and The Museum of the Viking Age play an important role in UiO’s communication with the public. Our responsibilities as a keeper of Norway’s national heritage and collective memory are to a large extent handled through the museums.
The museums have a special need to reach broad target groups nationally and internationally. Therefore, they have their own profiles.
It is important to highlight UiO in connection to the museums, with regards to knowledge, research, scholarship and history as well as the museum buildings. By utilising UiO’s historic buildings in new and exciting ways, we can increase our public visibility and presence. This, in turn, can create positive effects that benefit UiO's student and work life and strengthen the ties between UiO and the city of Oslo.
It should always be clear that the museums are part of the University of Oslo. This is achieved through systematic use of UiO’s logo, name and texts that follow the guidelines defined in the museum’s own profile manuals.
The Museum of Cultural History uses the same visual profile as UiO.
