Marion Fourcade is a distinguished professor of sociology at the University of California, Berkeley. She received her education from Harvard University and has taught at both Princeton University and New York University before joining Berkeley in 2003.
Fourcade has received numerous awards for her outstanding books, including the acclaimed book Economists and Societies: Discipline and Profession in the United States, Britain, and France, 1890s to 1990s. This is the first book to systematically compare the economics profession in the United States, Britain, and France. Her extensive study of the institutional positioning and development of the economics profession in these three countries has now become a standard reference.
For many years, Fourcade has made significant scientific contributions through her extensive contributions, innovative expansions, and in-depth analyses in the field of economic sociology. She works in dialogue with the field of technology and science studies (STS) and the field of social studies of markets, with a particular emphasis on comparative studies and valuation practices.
