Centres abroad
UiO has established a strong presence abroad through participation in a number of university centres. The centres are important hubs for cooperation in education and research with the host country, and often also important arenas for Nordic collaboration.
Berkeley
Peder Sather Center for Advanced Study's mission is to strengthen and foster research collaborations between faculty at UC Berkeley and from the consortium of nine participating Norwegian academic institutions.
Copenhagen
NIAS - the Nordic Institute of Asian Studies - is an academically independent Nordic research and resource center, focusing on modern Asia from a predominantly social sciences perspective.
Dubrovnik
Inter-University Centre (IUC) Dubrovnik is an independent international institution for advanced studies. About 170 member universities worldwide cooperate in organising the activities.
New Dehli
The Nordic Centre in India (NCI) is a consortium of leading universities and research institutions in the Nordic countries. NCI facilitates and supports a wide range of study and research activities in India and in the Nordic countries.
Kiel
Das Deutsch-Norwegische Studienzentrum (DNSZ) was established as a joint facility of the University of Kiel and the Universities of Bergen, Oslo, Troms?, Trondheim (NTNU) and the Norwegian University of Economics (NHH). The focus is on German language and culture.
Paris
The Norwegian University Centre in Paris (NUCP) supports collaboration between Norwegian and French research within social sciences and humanities. A main focus is on young researchers and PhD students.
Rome
In 1959 the University of Oslo created the Norwegian Institute in Rome as a permanent base for the study of Mediterranean culture and history. The institute fosters and facilitates academic research and provides students with opportunities to study in a Roman context.
Shanghai
Nordic Centre in Shanghai supports collaboration between researchers and students in the Nordic countries and China. Located at Fudan University, the centre is a vehicle for research and education within all kinds of disciplines.
Svalbard
The University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS) is the world’s northernmost higher education institution. UNIS provides research-based education of the next generation of Arctic experts in biology, geology, geophysics and technology.
