– The offers we have received from the publisher do not fulfil our demands of Open Access. Elsevier are not showing any inclination towards reducing costs for reading access and to shift their business model towards charging for publishing instead, says Rector Svein St?len.
The agreement is therefore terminated, with approval from the leadership teams at the universities in Oslo, Bergen, Troms? and Trondheim.
Access to articles
Norwegian authors will still be able to publish in Elsevier journals. The researchers and students will still have access to reading articles in Elsevier's journals published up to and including 2018, depending on archival access conditions negotiated locally at the individual institutions. Researchers and others who need access to articles are encouraged to contact their local institutional library. At UiO, the University Library will help you to obtain articles that UiO does not have access to. Search for and order the article in Oria and the library will get it for you.
