Digital teaching
The government recommends as much digital teaching as possible.
– Fortunately, UiO has already arranged for a lot of digital teaching and digital home exams where possible. We have many digital tools and meeting places for people to use in order to keep in touch. The faculties will assess any changes and provide information about this per study program. Most faculties have facilitated for home exams, and will inform their students about the current form of exam, says Rector Svein St?len.
Reading rooms and libraries
Libraries and reading rooms remain open.
Events and indoor leisure activities
The City Council has banned events and other arrangements. The ban does not apply to teaching.
– We will cancel the few events we had planned for the period of the ban. Student pubs and cellars can remain open, but have to adhere to the ban on serving alcohol. We believe it is important to maintain a few arenas in order to provide students with a place to be outside their living quarters, in order to counter loneliness and mental illness, St?len continues.
The City Council has also ordered a closing of premises where cultural and leisure activities take place indoors.
– This means that activities related to associations, choirs and orchestras have to be cancelled. Our museums unfortunately have to close for the duration of the ban. The Botanical Garden at the Natural History Museum will remain open, St?len continues.
Home office and physical attendance
UiO will continue adhering to the authorities? request for home office where possible. Line managers are responsible for assessing who must be physically present to take care of necessary teaching, research, and maintenance of necessary operational functions. This assessment is made in consultation with the employee and in line with UiO's guide for infection prevention and control.
– Following input from the civil servants' organisations, we ask that units engaging in such a dialogue facilitate as much as possible for fellows and postdocs, as well as people who have particularly difficult working conditions at home, says St?len.
