Summer is here and there's plenty to do at the University of Oslo.
After a visit to the Botanical Garden and Historical Museum, make sure to stop by the University's Aula! It's located at Universitetsplassen on Karl Johans gate and is open from 10am to 3pm, Tuesday to Friday, until August 11th.
Here, you can either have a tour with the hosts or use our brand new audio guide. Entrance and tour are completely free.
Guided tour with the hosts in the Aula
The hosts hold tours at 12pm and 2pm, and here you get a unique opportunity to experience the Aula with someone who knows the room and the paintings. There's an opportunity for shared interpretation, for you to let your curiosity take over and ask lots of questions, or just listen.
Brand new audio guide!
If you prefer to wander on your own, we have a brand new audio guide for this year that tells exciting stories about the origin of the university. Not to mention the dramatic story of how the decorations on the walls, Edvard Munch's paintings, ended up here.
The guided tour using the audio guide lasts for about 17 minutes.
If you're short on time, we've also split the guide into different parts so you can listen to exactly what you want. There are two parts: one about the university's origin and characteristics of the architecture, and another part that only deals with the paintings hanging in the Aula.
The audio guide is available in both English and Norwegian and is produced by the University of Oslo.
We're excited to open the doors to our Summer open Aula and we hope you find your way there!
