The world is facing challenges that require efforts from the entire global community. UiO facilitates good and secure international knowledge cooperation through various routines, tools and support functions:

– International cooperation is absolutely necessary for the development and spread of knowledge, trust, and tolerance. As researchers, as a university, and as society, we cannot isolate ourselves, says Rector Svein St?len and continues:
– Loss of biodiversity, health and welfare challenges, polarisation, migration, and war are examples of areas that will require interdisciplinary and innovative solutions. It is part of our societal mission to contribute knowledge to these solutions, but neither UiO nor the other Norwegian institutions can do it on their own. We are critically dependent on close and good cooperation with the global academic community.
The new web pages also deal with responsibility in international knowledge collaboration – i.e., looking after national interests, academic values, and student and staff safety while collaborating across borders and political regimes.
– Unfortunately, some countries have other practices related to ethics in research and education, academic freedom, and institutional autonomy. Internationalisation can also increase the risk of misuse of knowledge and technology, and illegal control of foreign students and researchers on academic stays in Norway. We will cooperate internationally, but it must be done responsibly, says St?len.
The web pages are continuously updated as new tools and support functions are added.
