Following Donald Trump’s nationalistic and authoritarian election campaign, communities are struggling to understand why individuals are being radicalized and drawn to anti-democratic movements. Professor Cynthia Miller-Idriss has extensively researched how extremist ideologies continue to attract new followers in unexpected spaces such as college campuses, mixed martial arts gyms, clothing stores, online gaming chat rooms, and even YouTube cooking channels.

In this lecture, Professor Miller-Idriss will:

  • Analyze the recruitment strategies of the next generation of far-right nationalists.
  • Examine the physical and virtual spaces where extremist ideologies are nurtured.
  • Discuss innovative strategies to counteract extremist radicalization.

This open event is an invaluable opportunity for all those interested in understanding and combating the rise of far-right extremism.

The event is hosted in collaboration between C-REX Center for Research on Extremism and UiO:Democracy.
